Scottish spirits group Greenwood Distillers has launched its first product, a gin created in partnership with an olfactory expert. Theodore Gin was co-designed by Barnabé Fillion, a perfume designer who previously worked for fashion group Hermes. Last year, Fillion helped create Pernod Ricard’s Royal Salute 28 Year Old Kew Palace Scotch whisky.
Theodore Gin contains 16 botanicals including pine, and gives off aromas such as fresh grass, Greenwood said. It is set to be produced at the start-up’s Ardross Distillery near Inverness. Construction on the GBP15m distillery began in 2017 and is expected to complete at the end of this year. The distillery aims to produce Scotch.
The first run of Theodore Gin was blended in Scotland from liquid produced in Cognac and London, a spokesperson for Greenwood told just-drinks. Production was overseen by former Morrison Bowmore chief blender Andrew Rankin.
