The 86th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is scheduled for June 16-17 at the famous Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France. For the first time, the French endurance classic will be televised live in its entirety in the U.S. on Velocity, a TV network owned by Discovery. A live stream of 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans also will be available on the Motor Trend app.
The second round of the 2018-19 Super Season of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans will feature an even balance of prototypes (30) and GTE cars (30) in the field of 60. Among the notable drivers who can be found on the entry list is two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso, who will make his first Le Mans run in the No. 8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2018 will start at 3 p.m. in France, or 9 a.m. ET in the U.S., on June 16. Here is all you need to know about this year’s running of one of the most prestigious motorsport events in the world.
24 Hours of Le Mans 2018: TV coverage, live stream, how to watch
In the U.S. and Canada, Velocity will provide live coverage of the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans in its entirety. Unlike Fox Sports, which previously televised the race on more than one of its channels throughout the 24-hour period, Velocity will show Le Mans in its entirety on one channel.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans also can be streamed live on the Motor Trend app.
Velocity, which is a TV outlet owned by the Discovery Network, takes over after Fox declined to renew its contract to televise Le Mans. Velocity will televise all of the 2018-19 Super Season races. Its coverage will utilize a packaged feed from Eurosport.
“Without question the 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most iconic auto racing event in the world,” said Robert S. Scanlon, president of Velocity and Motor Trend Group Video Content, via Racer.com. “Eurosport produces world-class live coverage of the event every year. Nowhere else in the U.S. or Canada can fans access their best-in-class coverage, and get a broader, richer Le Mans experience than with Velocity on television, MotorTrend.com online and the Motor Trend app on connected devices.”
Practice and qualifying sessions for the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 13-14) can be streamed live on MotorTrend.com and via the aforementioned Motor Trend app.
