Dana White is willing to take a chance on Greg Hardy.
The former Panthers defensive end is trying to make it in the UFC circuit, and the organization’s president said Hardy should have a chance to prove himself.
“If you talk to anybody he trains with, male or female, they say that he’s a very good guy. He’s very humble. Everybody deserves a second chance,” White told MMA Weekly. “The guy was never charged with anything, he was never sentenced or anything like that. We’re going to give him a shot.”
Hardy was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend in 2014 and was on the NFL’s exempt list for the majority of the 2014 season. After the alleged victim refused to testify against him due to a reported civil settlement, all charges were dropped.
However, the Panthers released Hardy and he spent a short stint with the Cowboys. He was released from the team after one year due to lack of production.
Hardy has already beaten three amateur MMA opponents in the and is set to face former NFL player Austen Lane on Tuesday in Las Vegas. It will be his first professional fight, which could earn him a spot as a permanent UFC fighter.
